JACKBOOTS ON WHITEHALL (2010) REVIEW

A thoroughly unfunny film, it tries to scrape the bottom of the barrel when it comes to humor and fails miserably.

METROPIA (2009) REVIEW

An interesting dystopian cat and mouse game of an animated film. Definitely relies on dialogue more than action so it won't be for everyone.

PIGGY (2022) REVIEW

This movie was a absolute chore to try and sit through. The main character had a very woe is me attitude and that makes her so unlikeable. I turned this film off 54 minutes and 15 seconds in because once I saw what happened at that point this film lost me altogether. I tried but I just couldn't bring myself to do it, this movie was a big let down for me and I don't think it's worth wasting the hour and 40 minutes of your life to watch this pile of hot garbage.

28 DAYS LATER (2002) REVIEW

Everyone raves about this film BUT I found it to be a fairly standard zombie movie. Still entertaining though.

RED ONE (2024) REVIEW

The usual Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson action affair dressed up as a Christmas movie this time around. This film is proof that if you've watched one rock film you've watched them all. This film is fun for the kids if nothing else. I did enjoy the snowmen scene.

SAVE RALPH (2021) REVIEW

A four minute stop motion short film that's an uncomfortable yet completely necessary watch.

BONES AND ALL (2022) REVIEW

A truly twisted Romeo and Juliet story that horrifies you and pulls on the heart strings at the same time. This film fills you with conflicting emotions from the stellar cast and without spoiling anything the way this film ends... Damn. I can't recommend this film enough.

PHIL TIPPETT: MAD DREAMS AND MONSTERS (2019) REVIEW

An interesting documentary about the life of stop motion animation power house Phil Tippett.

ABSOLUTE DENIAL (2021) REVIEW

A bonkers Frankenstein's monster type story about artificial intelligence.

THE CROW: WICKED PRAYER (2005) REVIEW

The only film in the franchise I hadn't seen, I'm glad I can now say I've seen every crow film. With that being said this movie is definitely as straight to DVD B movie as straight to DVD B movies get. We end up with a very miscast Edward Furlong in the lead, who although wasn't terrible was not great either. When donning the crow attire this man looked like a goth lesbian and was hard to take seriously. The script was quite cheesy at times, for example if you ever wanted to see a film where Dennis Hopper said "Homie" or "Mack daddy" and pretended to be Latino when he is clearly not then this is the film for you. Here are a couple Dennis Hopper quotes out of context "I now pronounce you the devil and his shorty" plus "Is it really you original gangster, well props to you og" these are just a taste of his performance. Tito Ortiz is also in this film for some reason although he does nothing of note. Yeah this film was bad but because I'm such a fan of The Crow franchise as a whole I've scored this higher than I probably should have.

ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN (1989) REVIEW

I fell in love with this film more and more as it went along. It definitely pulled on my heart strings, it's an animated film of its time but is still so enjoyable 35 years later. I feel like it's an underrated movie as you never hear anyone talking about it but it is fantastic and I can't recommend it enough.

UNDERCOVER BROTHER (2002) REVIEW

First of all I had no idea this movie existed until I found it at a DVD store about a month ago, after watching it recently I've found that it is a movie full of dumb fun even though some parts haven't aged well 20+ years later. Dave Chappelle and Neil Patrick Harris were the highlights of the film for me as they made me laugh whenever they were on the screen. Overall a stupidly fun time which succeeds in its goal of being the black Austin Powers.

PAUL VS TYSON (2024) REVIEW

I know this is not a film but due to being an amateur boxer myself I can't help but give it a review. The boxing before the main event was great. We also got to see Iron Mikes booty cheeks so that's reason alone to give it 5 stars.

All jokes aside this event was billed as a clash of titans and both under performed and over delivered. Both the title fights were intense and great viewing. Barrios vs Ramos was a real back and forth encounter that ended in a draw. Taylor vs Serrano was a barn burner with two warriors going out there, slugging it out and leaving it all in the ring.

The main event was next and when Tyson walked out he looked as menacing as ever BUT as soon as the bell went he looked every bit of  his 58 years as he threw 97 punches the whole fight and landed 18. Jake Paul convincingly got the unanimous decision victory against an aging veteran whose glory days were well behind him. Unfortunately father time caught up with Mike and he was no where near the man he was when he won the undisputed title.

I'm conflicted with what to rate this as on one hand there was great action on the undercard but on the other the main event was essentially a carnival ride. I'll be giving this a straight down the middle score due to the fact.

WYRMWOOD: APOCALYPSE (2021) REVIEW

A uniquely Australian Zombie apocalypse film, I didn't enjoy it as much as I could have due to not knowing it was a sequel beforehand, you'll need to watch the first film in order to have a full grip on this one as there were a lot of things I didn't understand because I jumped straight in on this sequel and straight into the middle of the story.

A SERBIAN FILM (2010) REVIEW

A disgustingly twisted roller coaster ride that definitely won't be for everyone. This film takes every chance it can to utterly shock the viewer.

GLADIATOR II (2024) REVIEW

Every bit the CGI laden spectacle I was expecting from Ridley Scott, a strong cast give great performances in this swords and sandals epic.

SHANGHAI NOON (2000) REVIEW

A popcorn flick that's full of dumb fun. The film itself is a retread of the team up to save the girl story but the laughs and action make up for the basic plot. Jackie Chan and Owen Wilson have great chemistry.

RUBEN BRANDT, COLLECTOR (2018) REVIEW

The animation is something out of a Picasso painting, the story leaves a lot open to interpretation just like an abstract piece of art does. But due to the film being so abstract it definitely won't be for everyone as it may seem jarring or be hard to get into too. I found it to be enjoyable though if it was a little bit more straightforward I would have enjoyed it even more.

AXE GIANT: THE WRATH OF PAUL BUNYAN (2013) REVIEW

Every bit the B movie cheese fest you'd expect. Taking off points due to the scene that was supposed to be in 1894 looking like it was in 2013.

SCREAM VI (2023) REVIEW

A run of the mill slasher with the most far fetched final reveal ever.

THE WILD ROBOT (2024) REVIEW

I thought this was going to be a by the numbers kids film but oh boy was I wrong. This film is full of emotional weight, it'll pull on your heart strings and make you laugh. I loved it and if you haven't seen it go out and give it a watch.

4.5 out of 5 STARS.

DOMINION (2018) REVIEW

Now before I go any further, if you are wanting to watch this documentary be prepared for a long film that can be a bit of a slog to sit through in parts. With that being said here are my thoughts on Dominion.

I'm conflicted and not in the way they were hoping, I'm convinced that cruelty in the livestock trade is in the minority and not the majority as this film would like you to believe. Yes there is room for improvement is farming but that is the case in any industry. Slaughterhouses aren't pretty but are necessary to keep the population fed. All in all this film made me thnk BUT it hasn't turned me off steak like it was perhaps hoping.

MACHETE (2010) REVIEW

Cheesy B movie goodness, a fun turn your brain off kind of film.

KNIGHTS OF BADASSDOM (2013) REVIEW

NO HOLDS BARRED (1989) REVIEW

After finding out that Hulk & Vince McMahon wrote the script I am not surprised that this film is an hour and a half of Hogan stroking his ego.

WHY THE WATCHBOX?

The WatchBox

Followers of the site maybe wondering why I've called it "The WatchBox".Well let me give you the reason behind it.

I own a box that I have dubbed the "WatchBox", I have had this box for a very long time. Most weekends I go on DVD hunts and I try to find anything that catches my interest, Whatever I find goes into the Watchbox and when I pick out a film it doesn't get put back, as a rule I must watch it so the contents are always changing.

When naming this site I had originally come up with "FilmFocus" but this didn't feel personal enugh to me. I thought long and hard before I had a light bulb moment! The name was right underneath my nose the whole time! The rest as you say is history.

BIGFOOT (2012) REVIEW

Terrible CGI bigfoot, hammy acting and 99.5% of the cast are over the age of 45. So there is no reason as to why I ended up enjoying the film as much I did.

Alice Cooper is in this film for all of 10 minutes and was easily the best part for me as i found him hilarious. Overall a solid little B movie that will make you laugh even if it's not supposed too.

An 80s horror classic, well worth a watch.

DADDY'S HEAD (2024) REVIEW

This movie was ok but it is just ok, with such a unique premise for the film I thought so much more could of been done. In conclusion it's not as good as it could of been.

VENOM: THE LAST DANCE (2024) REVIEW

It was a fun popcorn flick, was so unexpected but cool to see Knull on the big screen. didn't feel like the ending to a franchise though.

THE TOXIC AVENGER (1984) REVIEW

A pure master-class in 80s schlock! Buckets of gore, the hammiest of acting and a story that is completely over the top, what more do you ...
