CATVIDEOFEST 2024 REVIEW

  Exactly what it says on the tin it's a feature length compilation of cat videos. I went and saw the film after finding out about it on my local cinemas website last week, did some research and thought to myself I HAVE to go and see this out of curiosity if anything lol. I must say it was worth every penny. Will definitely be going again next year. I love weird and wonderful events like this.

WILD WILD WEST (1999) REVIEW

 The giant spider movie that only exists because Kevin Smith didn't want to make the first one. It was never going to win any awards BUT I think it cops more hate than it deserves because it's the cool thing to hate on this film. It got some chuckles out of me and as a popcorn flick it was mildly entertaining. I went into this film fully prepared to hate it but I don't. It's definitely not the greatest thing on the planet but it's not the worst either.

THE LAST MAGIC SHOW (2007) REVIEW

 This romantic drama/comedy from New Zealand has all the heart! Definitely one of those great films that you probably never heard of, this flick is a must watch as it has all the quirks and will warm you on the inside and out.

 Didn't find it scary but it was very entertaining / messed up and I was glued to the screen. Definitely worth your time. It reminds me a lot of the film "Beau Is Afraid" so if you liked that you will definitely like this one.

 Didn't expect to enjoy anywhere near as much I did. I laughed at the end of the opening sequence, I wasn't supposed to but I did because "IT" just came out of nowhere very suddenly, IYKYK. Overall a really fun time.

EDMOND (2005) REVIEW

 If "American Psycho" was grounded in reality, "Edmond" would be the result. It was a descent film even though it drags in places. There is a message in the movie about the meaning of life even though I don't 100% understand what it is, but I think that was by design and it's supposed to leave you feeling that way.

FANBOYS (2009) REVIEW

Went into this film with very low if not no expectations that it was going to be any good and boy was I wrong. It was hilarious and as a massive Star Wars fan I appreciated all the references, was also not expecting to see Seth Rogen or Danny Trejo. Definitely recommend.

 Johnny Depp's character told us at the beginning we wouldn't like him by the end and oh boy was he correct. The obviously large prosthetic nose worn by John Malkovich made me chuckle even though it wasn't supposed too. Every character in this film was unlikable and there was no growth by the end so everyone stayed unlikable, I wasn't as invested in the film as I could of been due to the fact.

 When I heard they were making a sequel I thought it wasn't needed, when I heard it was going to be a musical I winced. Upon watching it my greatest fears were realized. This film felt like it was directionless, it should have been renamed "Chain Smoking The Musical" as it was two hours of everyone smoking cigarettes with a song thrown in every now and again. The ending was interesting to say the least. The music selection itself was strange. Overall a boring film and a sad end to Joaquin Phoenix's Joker. Could of been much better

JOHNNY GRUESOME (2018) REVIEW

 A level or two above "so bad it's good". This B movie has big goals on what it wants to be. The acting is definitely 50/50 and depending on who's on screen at the time it can either be good or bad. Effects are better than I thought they were going to be but you can tell they had a limited budget to work with by the quality of kills on screen. Overall not a great film but it is an ok film and is something to watch when you want to turn your brain off and have fun.

QUARANTINE 2: TERMINAL (2011) REVIEW

As far as straight to DVD horror sequels go, this could of been a whole lot worse. Nowhere near as good as the first film and definitely showing its smaller budget, this film does have it's moments.

X-MEN: APOCALYPSE (2016) REVIEW

 The only reason I gave this film 3 stars is because I like this movie even if it is a bit of a high rating I'm just a sucker for a superhero flick good or bad. Now this film wanted to and tried HARD to be the X-Men franchises Infinity War / Endgame but it ends up feeling like a cheap imitation. I thought that the main villain was never any real threat. He was supposed to be on par with Thanos, Galactus and others but it was like he carried no real weight. All in all I did enjoy this film but you may or may not depending on how familiar you are with source material, not the worst I've ever seen but it's not great either.

ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (1981) REVIEW

 A fun popcorn film, the sections based around the world trade centre haven't particularly aged well but that's not the films fault. Absolutely loved the ending, definitely recommend you watch this movie.
